Silent, sitting motionless on high
branch. Listening to quiet murmurs, watching, waiting. When a prey
appears, owl starts without a sound - sudden, silent attack. But most
of us rather hear owls than see any. Owls use their calls to
advertise territorial boundaries and communicate with mates.
With its incredible hearing and seeing
in the dark, owl symbolize intuition, ability to see what others do
not see, gaining hidden wisdom. As creature of night, it is
associated with moon, dreams, underworld, unconsciousness. They bring
messages through dreams. Owls are symbolic of death in many
traditions. It should not be taken literally: it can be viewed as
symbolic death, meaning a transition in life, important changes that
are taking place or about to happen.
Owl is the bird of mystical wisdom and
ancient knowledge. The bird is often a guide to and through the
underworld. Most often associated with the Crone aspect of the
Goddess.

Athene who is Greek goddess of
foresight & knowledge. Athena had a companion owl on her
shoulder, which revealed unseen truths to her.
Minerva - Roman goddess of wisdom and
sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy.
Lakshmi - an Indian goddess of wealth.
The goddess is associated with the white owl which is taken as an
omen of good luck and prosperity.
